NOTE: The Planning Commission held a public hearing on December 6, 2023 in order to receive public comment regarding proposed revisions to the local zoning regulations.  The Town Select Board held their own public hearing on the document on Tuesday, February 13, 2024.  The Select Board members afterwards decided to return the document to the Planning Commission with recommended changes.  The Planning Commission will hold a second public in the near future that will be warned at least fifteen (15) days in advance to discuss the further revised document.   Please click here to download the current draft document.  Please click here for an executive summary of the revision process, the key changes, etc.


The Northfield Town Select Board appoints members to a five-person  Planning Commission and a five-person Development Review Board.  In addition, the Town Select Board, upon the recommendation of the Planning Commission, appoints a part-time Zoning Administrator to oversee planning and zoning matters on a regular basis.

If you are planning any construction project in Northfield or work on your home and/or business, please contact the Zoning Administrator to determine whether permits are required.  State and local requirements change all the time and there are penalties for not having proper permits.  

The regular meeting time for the Planning Commission (PC) is the 1st Wednesday of each month at 7:00 p.m.


The regular meeting time for the Development Review Board (DRB) is the 4th Thursday of the month at 7:00 p.m.
