Town Cemeteries

The Town of Northfield currently sells lots in two (2) public cemeteries: Mount Hope Cemetery, located at 958 South Main Street (near Norwich University) and the Northfield Falls Cemetery located at 374 Vermont Route 12 North (behind St. Jacob of Alaska Orthodox Church).  The Town of Northfield also maintains six (6) inactive cemeteries located throughout the community: Aldrich Cemetery, Elmwood Cemetery, Four Corners Cemetery, Loomis Cemetery, Richardson Cemetery, and Robinson Cemetery.

The Town of Northfield has contracted with Bruce Wright (BW Masonry) to maintain these town-owned cemeteries.  Mr. Wright also acts as Cemetery Sexton and is responsible for the sale of cemetery lots, supervising interments (in the absence of a funeral director), and other related duties.  Mr. Wright also updates cemetery records, which are available at the Town Clerk’s Office (51 South Main Street).

Should you have any questions or are interested in purchasing a cemetery lot, scheduling an internment, etc. please contact Mr. Wright at 802-485-6227.
