Board of Listers Board Members Thomas Alsheimer (Chair) Vacant Vacant Phone: 802-485-9825 Email: Listers@northfield.vt.us Office Hours: Monday, Wednesday, Friday - 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM Address: 51 South Main Street Northfield, VT 05663 The primary responsibility of the Board of Listers is to maintain and defend the Grand List for the Town of Northfield. To that end, the three (3) elected Listers must place a value on (assess) any and all improvements made to the roughly 2,000 parcels in Northfield. In the spring of each year, the Listers visit (perform field checks on) all of the parcels that have received permits from the Zoning Administrator. They must identify the level of completion of all the projects and establish a value for the improvement as of April 1 of that year. If a project is not completed by April 1, the Listers must then return to the parcel each following year until the project is completed. The Listers also perform Field Checks on parcel improvements, which they observe during the year and for which no permit has been issued. The Board of Listers has several responsibilities beyond that of the annual assessment process; they also are involved in exemptions, parcel inquiries, property transfers and tax mapping. If you need a “Lister Card” for a property in Northfield, you can come into the office during our posted office hours to obtain a copy or you can request a copy via email. When requesting by email, please give the property address. - TUESDAY, JULY 11, 2023 NORTHFIELD TOWN MANAGER’S FLOODING UPDATE
TUESDAY, JULY 11, 2023 NORTHFIELD TOWN MANAGER’S FLOODING UPDATE From the Northfield Town Manager: As of Tuesday morning, July 11, 2023, the town’s water, sewer and electric systems were not seriously impacted by the storm. The water system was not breached or inundated with water, and is fully intact. No boiling of water is required. Fortunately, the sewage treatment plant was not flooded. It is fully intact and operating normally. Little or no power outages were reported. The town’s highway department and emergency crews were on full alert through late last night and back at it early this morning. We understand that there are isolated pockets of damage on gravel roads and we are attending to them as quickly as possible. Much of the work done post-Irene was beneficial to our resistance to greater flooding. You can still report damage by emailing me at the address below. We appreciate how Northfield, as always, banded together to watch out for one another and keep us all safe. Jeff Schulz Northfield Town Manager jschulz@northfield.vt.us < Previous News Next News >
