The office of the Town Clerk acts as a gateway to and resource center for the municipality. It also serves as a chamber of commerce, providing a list of businesses and services. The office also issues licenses (hunting, fishing, marriage and civil union, dog, etc.); acts as a notary public; keeps property records; renews car registrations; takes the minutes at town meetings; records births, deaths, marriages,  and burials; makes certified copies of any vital record; organizes elections and petitions; registers voters; and acts as a source for genealogical and other research.
