NORTHFIELD MERGER COMMITTEE

In response to a non-binding resolution at the March 2006 Annual Town Meeting, the Northfield Boards of Town Selectmen and Village Trustees formed a Merger Committee in order to explore the possible merger of Northfield Town and Northfield Village into one political entity.

To date, the Merger Committee has reviewed previous merger attempts as well as the financial, administrative, and other implications of a Town/Village merger. The Merger Committee has made  a special effort to address the concerns of the Northfield community should the question of Town/Village Merger be put before the  voters again in the near future.

The Merger Committee at present is comprised of two Town Selectmen, two Village Trustees, and four community members.  The current members of the Merger Committee are:

Selectman Melvin Adams (Chair)

 Jay Pedley

Selectman Gregory Sanders

Frank Plumley

Trustee James Wilson

(3rd Community Member Position Vacant)

(2nd Trustee Position Vacant)

(4th Community Member Position Vacant)

The Merger Committee holds regular meetings on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. in the Northfield Municipal Building (51 South Main Street).  Interested members of the public are strongly encouraged to attend.
