Chris Outten has been appointed Police Chief for the Town of Northfield, effective Saturday, September 4, 2010. Mr. Outten has been serving as Acting Police Chief since the resignation of former Police Chief Jeffrey Shaw last June. As is customary, Police Chief Outten will be leading this year's Northfield Labor Day Parade.
The Northfield Labor Day Weekend
Festivities will commence on Saturday, September 4, 2010 with the 1 Mile
Kid's Race and the 5K Race, both sponsored by Northfield Savings Bank.
The highlight of the holiday weekend, the Labor Day Parade, will be held on
Monday, September 6, 2010, beginning at 10:30 a.m. SHARP.

On Saturday, September 11, 2010, there will be a Remembrance Ceremony held at 7:00 p.m. on the Northfield Village Common to "pay tribute to those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001 and to those who have served and sacrificed since that day." The Northfield Municipal Building will be closed on Monday, September 6, 2010 in observance of Labor Day.
Lovers Lane will be closed starting at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 and will reopen at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 10, 2010. Please call Superintendent of Public Works William Lyon at 917-3101 for more information.

The Town of Northfield, Vermont is seeking applications for the full-time position of Mechanic/Public Works Employee. Qualified individuals will be expected to have considerable experience as an automotive mechanic, particularly involving heavy equipment. The Northfield Farmers Market will be held on the Village Common from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. each Tuesday afternoon through mid-October. If you have any questions or would like to become a vendor, please contact Verne DuClos at 728-3602
Ancient Roads Project. Maps that indicate possible ancient roads in Northfield have been prepared by the surveyor and are now available for public review in the Town Manager's Office, Northfield Municipal Building (51 South Main Street), during regular business hours (Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.) Residents who would like to assist in further research, whether on their own lands or in the community in general, are encouraged to work with the Town of Northfield on this project.
