The Northfield Boards of Town Selectmen and Village Trustees recently approved a "Winter Road Maintenance Policy" for the Northfield Highway Department. Click here for the full text. The Town of Northfield held an election by Australian Ballot on Tuesday, November 19, 2013 in order to obtain voter authorization to withdraw its membership in the Mad River Resource Management Alliance (MRRMA) and "enter into an agreement for solid waste management planning through membership in the Central Vermont Solid Waste Management District (CVSWMD)."
The results of the election were: YES-68; NO-97
The Village of Northfield held a Special Village Meeting on Tuesday, November 26, 2013 in order to seek voter authorization to "enter into a Power Sales Agreement with Vermont Public Power Supply Authority [VPPSA], for the purchase of electric energy and capacity from solar facilities to be located in Massachusetts..." This request for voter authorization was approved without objection.
The Winter Northfield Farmers Market will be held in Norwich University's Plumley Armory on the first Sunday of each month from November 2013 through April 2014. The market will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Please click here for more information.
As of July 1, 2013, the new Northfield GMTA Commuter (#93) will be making stops in Northfield, Northfield Falls and Montpelier. The route offers two (2) trips in the morning and afternoon and one (1) mid-day trip. The bus runs Monday through Friday and a one-way ride costs $2. Connections are available to the Link Express to Burlington, the US2 to St. Johnsbury, the Waterbury Commuter, the City Route to Berlin, Barre, and Montpelier Hospital Hill for direct access to the Central Vermont Medical Center and the Berlin Mall. The Town and Village of Northfield have adopted notices affirming their compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 ("ADA"). In addition, a grievance procedure has been established that may be used by anyone who wishes to file a complaint alleging discrimination on the basis of disability in the provision of services, activities, programs, or benefits by the Town and/or Village of Northfield. WINTER PARKING BAN: There will be no parking of motor vehicles on the streets or roads of Northfield Town and Village between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 6:00 a.m. from November 15, 2013 through April 15, 2014.
Starting on Monday, October 14, 2013, the Northfield Board of Town Selectmen will be start their regular meetings at 6:00 p.m. This will continue through March 2014.
