The Annual Northfield Town Meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 6, 2012.  The open meeting will begin at 10:00 a.m. in the Mary Granai Corrigan Auditorium at the Northfield High School.  Australian Balloting  will be held from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Northfield High School Cafeteria   Please click here to view the 2012 Northfield Town Meeting Warning.

The Northfield Board of Town Selectmen has approved the final draft of the Proposed Town Charter that will be voted upon on Town Meeting Day (03/06/12).  The proposed charter will be printed in the Town Report that will be distributed to all Northfield residents and hardcopies now can be picked up at the Town Clerk's Office.  An electronic version of the Proposed Town Charter also is available by clicking here.  Please click here for additional information.

Prior to its regular meeting of Monday, February 13, 2012, the Northfield Board of Town Selectmen will hold two (2) separate Public Hearings. The Public Hearings will begin at 6:00 p.m. in the Community Room located in the Brown Public Library (93 South Main Street).  The first Public Hearing is for the purpose of providing written or oral views on a proposed amendment of the Town Sewer Ordinance (2004) that would remove the requirement that a property owner in the “Source Protection Area” must hook onto the municipal sewer system should it pass within two hundred and fifty feet (250’) of his/her property. Copies of the proposed amendment are available for review in the Town Clerk’s Office located in the Northfield Municipal Building (51 South Main Street) during regular business hours (Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)  The second Public Hearing is for the purpose of providing written or oral views on the proposed Town Charter to be voted upon by Australian Ballot on Tuesday, March 6, 2012  (Town Meeting Day). Copies of the proposed charter are available at the Town Clerk’s Office at the same location and times indicated above.  Please contact Town Manager Robert H. The Town of Northfield, Vermont, on behalf of the current property owners, is soliciting lump sum bids for the demolition and removal of the seventeen (17) residential structures on Union Street and Water Street and the return to grade of each site. These properties are currently deemed unsafe for occupancy and are candidate properties for a FEMA Hazard Mitigation Grant Program for razing of the structures on these properties.
Award of a demolition contract for each property is contingent upon FEMA approval of each Grant Application. The Grant Award, if made, is anticipated to occur no later than April 30, 2013; authorization to proceed is anticipated to be provided within fifteen (15) days of Grant Awards.  To download a copy of the RFP, please click here.  For additional information, please contact Town Manager Robert H. rlewis@northfield.vt.us. Bids are due Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 3:00 p.m. at the Northfield Municipal Building, 51 South Main Street, Northfield, VT 05663. A pre-bid site visit is scheduled for Thursday, February 2, 2012 at 10:00 a.m.  The Town of Northfield reserves the right to accept or reject any and all bid proposals.

The Village of Northfield is seeking letters of interest from Village residents who would like to serve on the Inter-Local Agreement Committee. This committee, consisting of two Town Selectmen, two Village Trustees, and two members of the public, usually meets no more than once or twice a year for the “purpose of reviewing issues regarding operation of the sewer system and making recommendations… regarding all questions concerning rate changes, bond issues, compliance issues, and major maintenance considerations.”  Please send your letter of interest to:  Nanci A. The Town and Village of Northfield have adopted notices affirming their compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 ("ADA").  In addition, a grievance procedure has been established that may be used by anyone who wishes to file a complaint alleging discrimination on the basis of disability in the provision of services, activities, programs, or benefits by the Town and/or Village of Northfield.  Please click here to view the  full text of the ADA Grievance Procedure.
